Review of the CD ‘Elements’
"This programme proves to be a brilliant move by the ensemble, as it is vague enough to amalgamate a wide variety of musical elements from several eras and styles, but also concrete enough that the ancient doctrine of the four elements actually takes on a tangible form, while also addressing current topics of discussion such as climate change. […] But what is most inspiring of all is the pure sound of the Cologne Vocal Soloists. In terms of flawless intonation, vocal perfection and – perhaps most importantly – the emotional qualities of the vocal sextet, it can be compared in the same breath to famous six-part ensembles such as the Gesualdo Six. […] Ultimately, however, the Cologne Vocal Soloists bring all the eras represented on the CD to life, providing a literally elemental listening pleasure.
